"Kenka-fuda" is an accessory used in traditional festival. It represents each team and serves as a protective charm to bring victory and good luck in competitive matches or contests.
Especially during traditional Japanese festivals in Kanto region, those carrying the portable shrines (mikoshi) often wear kenka-fuda as a symbol of good fortune.
On the other hand, it is said that the people of Edo were so impatient that they didn't even want to waste time introducing themselves, which is why they wore Kenka-fuda as a name tags.
Ajate's original Kenka-fuda, handcrafted from bamboo, serves as a cherished emblem associated with the Mikoshi. Suspended from the neck by an Edo-style braided cord, it embodies the essence of this awe-inspiring tradition.
"The Mikoshi" is a magnificent and grand portable shrine used in sacred processions in Japan.
We wholeheartedly extend our prayers for the prosperity and good fortune of those who proudly wear it.
As is handmade, there are no two items that have the exact same shape or form.
They are designed as pendants for immediate wear after purchase, but you can customize them according to your preferences by changing the cord part to a keychain, a bag charm, or etc.
Since they are uncoated, you can enjoy the changing texture over time.
We use bamboo that has been sustainably sourced to protect the forest environment.
